Uh oh! Look what I bought...

Apparently I've decided what to do with the cheque my mum sent me...I went to the Yukon Artists at Work gallery today for the first time (!) and walked away with the following items.

"Racine Rapids, Tagish River" Yukon artist Stephanie Ryan

"Raver" Yukon artist Heide Hehn

"Blue Moon" also by Heidi Hehn

I love ravens and the two pictures I bought were from a group of 5. They are small (8 x 10-ish) and are acrylic on canvas, ready to hang.

The painting is over 20" x 30" and still in the plastic wrap, which distorts the colours a bit, but I'll need to get it framed - hopefully sooner rather than later. All the colours match my new furniture, and I feel I did really well. My place is so bare and bland that these will really perk it up!

Very nice!! I really like the racine rapids one :-) You'll think of your mom every time you see them... glad you used the money on something for your place :-)

Lovely. I stare at my bare walls and wish I had the funds to jazz them up. You made a great choice on what to do with your mom's gift.

The ravens are awesome! Didn't you feel a little bit sad about breaking up the "litter" and only taking two home though? :)

Beautiful choices! I love original art -- what a great way to support local artists and have something permanent to enjoy!

Thank you! I have no buyer's remorse, so obviously it was a good buy. Impulsive, yes, but definitely something I can enjoy for years to come. Amazingly inspiring, too! Simply wonderful.

I had my eye on a different Stephanie Ryan, but wasn't fast enough; someone scooped it. It was much smaller, but there was a river in it, too, and I love the way the way the water is represented.

And yes! I did feel sad about breaking up the ravens (they're a 'murder,' I think...same as crows). But - oh dear! - I'll just have to go back and get another one... ;)

Beautiful! Getting pics for the walls really leads to the place getting warmed up and homey. By the way, over here in Bulgaria it seems that a surprising percentage of the ravens are black with significant grey feathers on their backs and sides... they are lovely. Plus, you didn't have to cash out the retirement annuity or whatever to pay for it, so you came out ahead.

I was wondering where my two ravens went!! I am glad you enjoy the company of some of my little feathered troublemakers. I will have to paint even more of them.
