Off on a little holiday!

Heading down to Devon for a few days to visit my sister. Packed up the car yesterday with all kinds of things to take with me - what a great way to declutter a place! 😀😀 Packed my bike, the vacuum we found when we moved in, a bag of household-y things that I bought, the camp bed, pillows & sheets, all my magazines, a set of candlesticks, a few old towels, a kettle (new), and some excess cutlery. Phew! She'll bet set for awhile.

It's going to be a wet trip - I think there's one day of 'mostly cloudy' forecast - but 'tis England after all, and I should be used to this by now. It's what it does. We've got the tail end of a hurricane (is it Lorenzo?) and, well, that's pretty much it. Wet weather gear is ready to go. Regardless, a few days away is a nice break.

I borrowed a sat nav from a colleague which I'm pleased about. I was debating about buying one but as I don't generally go too far afield, there didn't seem to be much point expending the ££ before I knew how often I'd need it. I don't go very many places I don't know these days. Is that wrong? Ha ha! Anyhow, a loan is the cheapest option, so I'm pleased it worked out.

It's just going 7:00 and I'm going to leave within the hour, I think, only because I'd like to potentially get a bit of a head start on the rain if possible. I will 'drive dirty' and shower when I get there.

I know a massage is on the agenda, mine at least, but sadly, no goat yoga! Maybe it's the wrong time of year (no kids)? Anyhow, my sister says she has all kinds of things planned, lots animal-related, so I'm sure we'll have a great time.

Will update (with photos) next week! 'Byeeeeeeeeeee 😘

Have a great time with your sister! Just curious: why did you have to borrow a sat nav? I use cell phone apps for that. If you do not want to use your internet on the phone, you can download maps so that you can use them offline. The only downside is offline maps do not tell you about the traffic conditions.

Have a lovely time - Devon's so pretty isn't it, and what's a bit of rain anyway!

Hi T'Pol - thank you! I always do. :D I use a sat nav because I have no idea how to use a phone app. I'm a bit of a technology dinosaur. I find it easier to have someone shouting at me, and not having to look at my phone. I find it much easier to concentrate on my driving, but that's just me. Hope you have a wonderful holiday! Xx

Hi Treaders - this is my first time in Devon, but it's so pretty and peaceful. My sister has no furniture apart from a coffee table and bedside table, so it's a bit 'college dorm' at the moment, but it's warm and has everything required otherwise. I'm leaving her my camp bed so she doesn't have to sleep on the floor anymore either! Ha ha! xx

Hi MW! Thank you. Drive was okay - torrential rain for part of it, but arrived in Devon and sunshine drives shortly afterwards, so it worked out. Sunshine again today and tomorrow according to the forecast, so we're going to get out and about a bit while we can. She's working most of the time I'm here, so I'm taking the opportunity to jut chill out, read, drink tea... :D xx

Ummm... The navigation app can also shout at you. You don't need to look at your phone. The same thing actually. One of these days, I will visit the UK and may be we can meet up and I can show you all the gizmos you might need. Lol!

Hi T'Pol - ha ha! I'm a bit hopeless when it comes to phone apps and stuff - and a bit lazy, if I'm honest. I could probably figure it out if I wanted to, but I'll probably get there in the end. And, yes! Please come to the UK for a visit - happy to learn gizmos while we're touring about! ;D xx
