Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh boy!

Well, more details are needed.

How do you like it? How much did it COST! (I am scared of this one!)? and Are you happy with it? (both the computer & your decision?)

Hi FD! Hi CS!

I'll have to share how it actually works next week: it's currently still at the store being cleaned and loaded, so I'll be picking it up Monday or Tuesday. I WILL write a review for sure at some point. I'm very keen to start playing and figuring out everything it can do. One thing I played with on Friday was the photo organizer...I am REALLY excited about that.

So, apart from that...

Total cost: $1702.04
Includes:
- computer (wireless mouse & keyboard inclued) = $1197
- software bundle (upgraded to Windows 7, Norton Anti-Virus and the Home & Student Office pack)
= $259
- 2 yrs additional service plan = $164.
- GST $81.05

Normally I never buy the service plan (I know they aren't a good deal), but in this case I figured it would be a good idea. I now have a three year warranty. Windows 7 is the new Vista; apparently this is what Vista should have been had retailers not demanded an early release. As I've never used Vista anyway, I figured I might as well take the upgrade. I'll have to learn all the new stuff anyway!

The guy who helped me was great, and answered a lot (more) of my questions and showed me some cool things you can do on it (yes, I was a little dazzled). Because it had dropped by another $100 and it was still there after two months of thought, I figured this was a sign (and yes, I DID try to talk him down another $100, but he wouldn't budge).

The ONLY remorse I have about this comes from the fact that I financed it (I know!!). However, I have several hundred already saved for a new computer, so my first payment will be well over the minimum. I could also pay it off in full from my LOC, and then increase my payments to that, as it's a far, far lower interest rate.

Otherwise, I am happy with my decision to get it. I'm planning shortly to donate my laptop to a charity (once its memory has been wiped clean of any remnants of me). It's still functioning well, but has funny glitches and simply wouldn't shut down at all the other day. Perhaps part of my "impulse" was just sheer frustration...I may have to dig a little deeper into that, but I've so far had no buyer's remorse, so there you go.

And thanks for going so easy on me... :)

Is that an HP touch????? I want one!!! But I did not want to finance mine so I bought this basic Toshiba Laptop for $569 and just found out that the Microsoft Office 2007 program was a 6 month trial. Luckily I have Office 2003. I hope its compatible with Vista (bleck, miss my XP).

Nice choice in computers. Have fun!

@Pear: Thank you! I could no longer resist its taunt...

@Money Funk: Yes, it is, (albeit an already discontinued model!!) and I am very excited about it. I didn't REALLY want to finance it, either, but I'm (mostly) okay with having done so because
a) I have a steady job
b) And I have the means to pay it off all at once if I want to.

It was the very last one in the store and was cheaper than I could find it online even...

*Squint*

It looks great

You are so lucky to have had the chance to upgrade

I'm stuck with Vista *sigh*

ENJOY!!!

(and download AVG anti virus to do regular checks so it doesnt blow up)

(and consider an external hard drive to back up pics and other docs too... you'd cry like me too, if you lost anything)

Hi FB! It's quite a road from Office 2003 to Office 2007, let me tell you, but I feel so modern...

Sorry for the tiny photo - this link might be better: http://www.snsdwonline.com/w/4/IQ524.jpg

Thanks for your suggestions! I actually already do have an external hard drive. I'm paranoid about my photos - I may not have a lot of them, but I want to keep them - and keep them on my hard drive exclusively. I can't imagine losing them...ouch!
